Based out of the headquarters of former parent company, US Unwired, Xspedius Corporation is an Integrated Communications Provider (ICP) offering integrated voice, data, and Internet services to mid-sized and large businesses in an area ranging from the mid-South to the Southeast. The Company’s integrated offering presently travels over T-1, with SDSL integration planned for small businesses, home offices, and residential customers.
LEC Unwired (d/b/a US Unwired) began reselling local voice and Internet services in Lake Charles, LA, in early 1998. It signed an agreement with Lucent for voice and data equipment, which it deployed from 1998 through 2000. The Company planned a DSL roll out for its CLEC operation for mid-2000 and revisited its business plan throughout the end of 1999 and early 2000. In October 2000, US Unwired formally announced that it was spinning off its CLEC subsidiary, which took the Xspedius name.
